19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
